German Legal Compliance Addon for WHMCS
Records consents at checkout, adds an online withdrawal form and confirms every cancellation with receipt time and contract end under § 312k BGB.
What problem does this addon solve?
Selling hosting to consumers in Germany comes with records that WHMCS does not keep for you. You need to show which terms a customer accepted, offer a way to withdraw within the 14-day period, confirm a cancellation with when it arrived and when the contract ends, and prove that a consumer asked you to start before the withdrawal period ran out. This addon records each of these in WHMCS, next to the order and the customer they belong to.
What does it record?
| Record | What is stored |
|---|---|
| Consents | For every client area order and sign-up: the versions of terms, privacy policy and cancellation policy in force, whether the terms box was ticked, the account, the time and a shortened IP address |
| Early start | Whether a consumer asked you to begin before the withdrawal period ends (§ 356 (4) BGB), with the exact wording shown |
| Withdrawals | An online form in the client area listing the account's services, domains and addons with their deadline; instant receipt email, staff notice, status and internal notes |
| Cancellations | Every WHMCS cancellation request with date and time of receipt and the contract end |
| Legal texts | Link, version and start date for each text; a version that a consent refers to is locked |
How is the contract end worked out?
An immediate cancellation ends on the day it arrives. Otherwise the contract runs to the next due date, or to the end of a minimum term if the service has a configurable option for one, counted the way §§ 187 and 188 BGB count periods. The addon adds two merge fields to the WHMCS Cancellation Request Confirmation template, so the email states both the receipt time and the end date. Older cancellations can be imported, and a confirmation can be sent again from the admin list.
What does the admin see?
An overview with open tasks, such as switching on terms acceptance at checkout, which a button does for you, and missing versions or a missing postal address for withdrawals. Consents can be searched, opened in detail and exported as CSV. The admin order page shows the consent and the end of the withdrawal period, and the client summary lists consents, open withdrawals and cancellations. Customers with a company name or VAT ID count as businesses, which have no right of withdrawal.
Who is it for?
Hosting companies, agencies and SaaS providers that sell to consumers in Germany through WHMCS and want their consent, withdrawal and cancellation records in one place instead of scattered across emails.
What do you need, and what are the limits?
Requirements: WHMCS 9 and the shared core addon included in the download. The early-start tick box needs one checkbox in your order form template; the addon supplies its wording in German and English and passes it to the template.
Limits: withdrawals sent by email, letter or phone are not captured, orders created in the admin area have no consent entry, and cancellations made outside WHMCS are not recorded. Refunds after a withdrawal are still done by your team in WHMCS. The addon does not write your legal texts or give legal advice, so have the tick box wording and email texts checked by a lawyer.
It costs $49 once for a lifetime license with twelve months of updates and support, an instant download and license key, and a seven-day refund window.

Frequently asked questions
Does this addon make my shop legally compliant on its own?

No. It records consents, withdrawals and cancellations and puts the required dates into your emails, but it does not write your terms, privacy policy or cancellation policy. Have the tick box wording and the email texts checked by a lawyer before you go live.

Where do customers find the withdrawal form?

The addon adds a Withdraw from a contract entry to the account sidebar and the services menu. The form lists the account's services, domains and addons with their withdrawal deadline, or the customer can describe the contract in their own words. Only the account owner can submit it, and the receipt email goes out right away.

Are orders placed before I install it covered?

Consents start with the first order or sign-up after activation, so older orders and orders created in the admin area have no consent entry. Older cancellation requests can be imported into the cancellation list, so their contract end is on record.
