AI Integration Services: OpenAI and Claude in the Software You Already Use
AI integration connects a model such as OpenAI's GPT or Anthropic's Claude to the software your business already runs, so it can summarize, sort, extract, draft or search inside that system. I am Shahid Malla, an AI developer and full-stack developer with server and DevOps experience. I build OpenAI and Claude API integrations for CRMs, helpdesks, WHMCS and Laravel or Next.js apps, tested on your real cases.

What is AI integration?
AI integration connects an AI model to software your business already uses, so the model works on your records inside the screens your staff already use. The software calls the model through its API, from OpenAI or Anthropic for example, and the result goes back in as a field, a tag, a draft or a suggested action.
It is narrower than a chatbot or an agent. A chatbot talks to customers, and an agent takes several steps on its own. An integration usually does one job the same way every time, such as summarizing each new ticket when it arrives. That makes it the cheapest kind of AI work to build, test and run.
What can AI do inside the software you already use?
AI pays off first on text work that staff repeat many times a day. These are the jobs most integrations do:
| Job | Example | What stays with a person |
|---|---|---|
| Summarize | A long ticket, email thread or call note becomes three lines at the top of the record | Reading the full thread when the case matters |
| Classify and route | New leads or tickets are tagged by topic, language and urgency and sent to the right queue | Anything the model marks as unsure |
| Extract fields | Names, dates, order numbers and amounts are pulled from emails or PDFs into form fields | Checking the fields before they are saved |
| Draft replies | A reply is drafted from your help pages and the customer's history | Editing and sending it |
| Search by meaning | Staff search records or documents in plain words instead of exact keywords | Opening the source to confirm |
| Translate | Incoming messages are translated for the agent and the reply is translated back | Final wording of sensitive messages |
A good first job has three things: it happens often, a person can check the result in seconds, and a wrong answer is easy to catch before it reaches a customer.
Which kind of AI integration do you need?
Start from the job, not the model. This table points each need to the right kind of build:
| If you need | Build | Where to read more |
|---|---|---|
| One task done inside an existing screen or workflow | An API integration | This page |
| Customers answered on your website | An AI chatbot | AI chatbot development |
| Customers answered on WhatsApp | A WhatsApp AI chatbot on the official Cloud API | WhatsApp AI chatbot development |
| Work that takes several steps and uses your tools | An AI agent | AI agent development |
| Claude, ChatGPT or your own agent using your CRM or database | An MCP server | MCP server development |
| Answers from your documents, with the source shown | Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) | What is a RAG chatbot? |
| Data moved between apps with no judgment needed | Plain automation, no AI | Automation development |
Many projects start as one integration and grow. A summary field can become a drafting step and later an agent, on the same code and the same test set.
Which systems can you add AI to?
Most systems with an API, webhooks or a plugin system can be connected. The work I can point to covers these:
- WHMCS: addon modules and hooks that add AI to support and billing. MagizAI has a free WHMCS addon module, and the WHMCS AI guide covers what an AI support copilot can and cannot safely do there.
- CRMs: the AI assistant in JK Tour CRM drafts travel itineraries using the customer's own API key.
- Laravel and Next.js apps: an assistant, drafting or search by meaning added to an app you already run. See AI features in Laravel apps.
- Website chat and support: MagizAI answers website chats from the site's own pages and files, and a person on the team can take over any chat.
- WhatsApp, payments and lead tools: ElyAgents connects the WhatsApp Cloud API, Stripe, Razorpay and Meta Lead Ads.
Many SaaS tools now ship their own AI features. Try those first. A custom integration makes sense when the built-in feature cannot see the data it needs, cannot follow your rules, or costs more per user than the API would.
Should you use OpenAI or Claude for an AI integration?
Choose by testing both on your own cases, not by brand. Run the same set of real tickets, emails or records through each model and compare accuracy, cost per task, speed and the data terms that apply to you.
Both APIs can return data your software can rely on. OpenAI's structured outputs guide says the feature "ensures the model will always generate responses that adhere to your supplied JSON Schema", and Anthropic's structured outputs page says it can "guarantee schema-compliant responses through constrained decoding". Both read on 27 October 2026.
A response in the right format can still be wrong, so every field is still checked against your rules before it is saved. Keep the prompts, schemas and test set apart from the provider-specific code, so a later switch of model is a configuration change plus a test run, not a rebuild.
What do AI integration services cost?
My rate is $55 to $65 an hour. For a fixed price, a free scoping call of about 30 minutes comes first, and the written quote follows within one business day.
Model usage is billed by OpenAI or Anthropic to your own account, with a monthly spending cap; hosting works the same way. The build price moves with these factors:
- How many systems the integration reads from and writes to.
- Whether the AI only reads and suggests, or also changes records.
- How clean the input is: tidy form fields cost less than scanned PDFs and long email threads.
- How many languages the text arrives in.
- How many items a day it processes, which also sets the monthly model bill.
Token-cost examples for chatbots and agents are in the AI agent and chatbot cost guide; a single-task integration usually sends shorter prompts than a chatbot does.
How do you keep an AI integration safe?
Staging first, tests on your own cases and the narrowest access that works. These rules apply to every integration:
- Scope in writing: what the AI may do alone, what needs a person's confirmation and what is out of scope.
- Staging and tests: everything is built on a staging copy with test data, and your test cases, including prompt injection attempts hidden in emails or tickets, run on each change.
- Least privilege: read-only credentials by default, writes behind a check or a confirmation, and no passwords, card data or API keys in prompts.
- Business API terms: OpenAI's API data page and Anthropic's Commercial Terms both say customer data sent through the API is not used to train their models (OpenAI unless you opt in), as quoted in the questions below.
- Spending caps: a monthly cap on each model account, so a loop or a traffic spike cannot run up the bill.
What AI integration work can you check?
Five AI projects, each with my role stated. Four belong to businesses I own or work for:
- MagizAI (my own product; I am founder and CEO): an AI chatbot and live chat for websites that answers from the site's own pages and files, in the visitor's language, with a free WHMCS addon module. Live at magiz.ai.
- JK Tour CRM (an ElySpace product; I am CTO): a Laravel travel CRM whose AI assistant can draft itineraries using the customer's own API key.
- ElyAgents (my own product): multi-tenant business software with AI features for pharmacies, schools and other industries, with WhatsApp Cloud API, Stripe, Razorpay and Meta Lead Ads integrations. Live at elyagents.com.
- ElySpace Ask AI (my employer's product; I built it as CTO): recommends hosting or domains at live prices and places the order; payment stays a separate step. Live at elyspace.com/ask-ai, marked as a preview.
- OnDemand Psychiatry (a two-month contract): as a contract AI engineer, I rebuilt the AI copilot of this clinical decision-support platform for psychiatry.
More on who I am and how I work is on the hire an AI developer page.
What AI integration work do I not take on?
- Training new models or machine learning research.
- Accuracy rates promised before a pilot on your data.
- Integrations that move money, delete records or change accounts without a person confirming.
- Copying data out of a system against its terms, fake reviews or impersonation.
- A custom build where the AI feature already in your software, or a ready-made product, costs less. I say so on the call.
Disclosure: I am an independent developer, not affiliated with, certified by or endorsed by OpenAI or Anthropic. ChatGPT is a product of OpenAI and Claude is a trademark of Anthropic. I am CTO at ElySpace, a freelance developer for Marmaids LLC, and founder of WHMCSPilot and MagizAI.
Who this is for
- Businesses whose staff copy, sort or summarize the same kind of text many times a day
- Software and SaaS teams adding an AI feature to a product that already has users
- Hosting companies on WHMCS that want AI help inside support and billing
- Companies in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and Europe that want AI inside the tools they already pay for
- Teams that paste work into ChatGPT by hand and want that step built into their own system
What is included
- A free scoping call of about 30 minutes, then a written scope and fixed quote within one business day, including what is left out
- A recommendation of the smallest kind of AI work that solves the problem, including when a ready-made tool or a plain integration costs less
- A build on staging with test data, before anything touches production
- A test set of your real questions or tasks, run before launch and after every change
- Model accounts and API keys in your name, with a monthly spending cap
- Code in your repository, deployment notes, a walkthrough call and two weeks of support after delivery
How the work runs
-
1
Scoping call
About 30 minutes on the job you want done, the system it happens in, your data and who checks the result. A written scope and fixed quote follow within one business day.
-
2
Pick one job and collect test cases
One task, such as summarizing new tickets or pulling fields from order emails, with real examples from your system to test against.
-
3
Set up data and access
A staging copy and credentials limited to what the integration needs, read-only by default. Secrets stay out of prompts and out of the repository.
-
4
Build and test on staging
I build with Claude Code and review every change myself. Automated tests and your test cases run on each change, and you get a daily update.
-
5
Pilot with your team
A few of your staff use it on real work first. We adjust the rules and the points where a person checks the result before everyone gets it.
-
6
Launch and hand over
Production deployment, spending caps on your model accounts, the repository and notes, a walkthrough and two weeks of support.

Frequently asked questions
What are AI integration services?
AI integration services connect an AI model to software a business already uses, such as a CRM, helpdesk, billing system or custom app. The model is called through its API, and the result comes back into that software as a summary, a tag, a filled-in field, a draft reply or a search result, where staff already work.
Can you integrate ChatGPT into our CRM?
Yes, through OpenAI's API rather than the ChatGPT app. ChatGPT is OpenAI's chat product for people; software connects to OpenAI's models through the API, which is billed per use to an account in your company's name. The same integration can use Anthropic's Claude API instead, and the choice is made by testing both on your own records.
What is the difference between AI integration and automation?
Automation moves data between systems by fixed rules, for example creating a CRM contact when a form is sent. AI integration adds a step that needs judgment on text, such as deciding what a message is about or summarizing it. Many projects need both, and when fixed rules are enough I recommend plain automation, which costs less to run.
Will our data be used to train the AI models?
Not under the providers' business API terms. OpenAI's API data page says data sent to its API "is not used to train or improve OpenAI models (unless you explicitly opt in to share data with us)", and Anthropic's Commercial Terms say "Anthropic may not train models on Customer Content from Services." Both read on 26 October 2026. Check retention and region settings for your own compliance needs too.
Can the AI change records in our system?
Only where you decide it may. Integrations start read-only. Where the AI writes, such as filling fields or tagging tickets, its output is checked against the expected format and your rules first, and changes to money, accounts or anything a customer sees need a person to confirm.
Do you work with businesses in the US, UK and Australia?
Yes. I work remotely in India Standard Time (UTC+5:30) and arrange overlap hours with your time zone for calls. Daily updates arrive in the channel you choose, so you do not need to be online when I am.
