Reseller REST API Module for WHMCS

A REST layer over WHMCS so resellers and partners can place orders, manage clients and read invoices from their own code.

WHMCS 8.13 tested PHP 8.1+

What does this REST API module add to WHMCS?

It adds a REST interface that your clients and resellers call with their own API keys to order, provision and manage your products. WHMCS has its own API for admin work, but handing admin credentials to a partner is something most hosting companies avoid. I built this module so each partner gets a separate key with permissions and limits you choose.

With a key, a reseller can register clients, create orders, start provisioning, look up invoices and payments, and read your product list from their own website, app or back-office script. Webhook notifications tell their system when something changes, so their code does not have to keep asking.

Which endpoints and controls are included?

  • Orders and provisioning: place an order and set up the service in one flow.
  • Clients: register new clients and manage existing records.
  • Invoices and payments: read billing data for a partner's customers.
  • Product catalog: list the products a partner can sell.
  • Webhooks: push events to the partner's own endpoint.
  • Keys, quotas and rate limits: set per key, from your admin area.

In the WHMCS admin there is a dashboard for managing keys and reviewing usage analytics. Developers get written API documentation, an SDK and code samples, which shortens the time it takes a partner to go live.

Who is this module for?

It fits hosting companies whose resellers want to sell under their own brand, teams that need WHMCS to talk to a CRM, ERP or other third-party system, and anyone who wants to script repetitive or bulk order work. If partners currently email you their orders or type them into your client area by hand, an API gives them a cleaner path and gives you fewer manual steps.

What do you need before installing it?

Requirements: WHMCS 8.13, which is the version I test on, PHP 8.1 or newer, and access to upload an addon to your WHMCS folder. There is no outside service to sign up for. Setup is uploading the module, creating API keys and setting what each key may do.

The module provides the API, not a storefront. Your resellers, or a developer they hire, still build the site or app that calls it. Two licenses are available: the regular license is encrypted and fully featured, and the open source license includes the unencrypted code for teams that want to change or extend it.

Frequently asked questions

Can a reseller create orders through the API?

<p>Yes. A reseller can register a client, place an order and start provisioning with API calls, which is what they need to run a storefront under their own brand. They can also read invoices, payments and your product catalog, and receive webhook events when an order or invoice changes on your side.</p>

How do I stop one partner from flooding WHMCS with requests?

<p>Every API key carries its own rate limit and quota, and you set both from the admin dashboard. That way you decide how many requests each client or reseller can make, and a heavy integration from one partner stays inside the limit you gave it. The usage analytics show how each key is being used.</p>

What is the difference between the regular and open source licenses?

<p>The regular license costs $249 and gives you the encrypted module with every feature. The open source license costs $749 and gives you the unencrypted code, so your developers can modify or extend it. Both are lifetime licenses that come with twelve months of updates and help; renewing after that is $99 a year and optional.</p>
