SiteScout Terms of Use.

Last updated October 12, 2026

Effective date: October 12, 2026

These terms apply to the SiteScout Chrome extension ("SiteScout"), published by Shahid Malla. By installing or using SiteScout you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not install it, or uninstall it from chrome://extensions.

What SiteScout is

SiteScout is a free browser extension that shows a read-only report about the website open in your current tab: hosting and server, DNS records, SSL certificate, email authentication (SPF, DMARC and MX), security headers, performance timings and domain registration data. It runs only when you click its toolbar icon.

Price and licence

SiteScout is free of charge. You may install it and use it for personal and commercial work, for example to check your own sites or your clients' sites. You may not sell SiteScout, republish it under another name, or distribute modified copies of it.

Acceptable use

  • Use SiteScout to look up information about websites in a lawful way. Each scan reads publicly available data and makes a small number of requests, listed in the privacy policy.
  • Do not automate scans, run them in bulk, or use SiteScout in a way that overloads the lookup services it depends on or the websites you inspect.
  • Do not use SiteScout to attempt unauthorised access to any system. It only reads public records and the headers a website sends to every visitor.

Third-party services

To build the report, SiteScout sends the domain name you inspect to public lookup services: Cloudflare's DNS-over-HTTPS resolver, the SSLMate Cert Spotter Certificate Transparency search (with crt.sh, operated by Sectigo, as a fallback) and rdap.org, which forwards the request to the domain registry's RDAP server. Those services are run by their own operators under their own terms and privacy policies. SiteScout does not control them, and a report section can be empty or delayed when one of them is unavailable.

Accuracy of the report

The report shows what public records and the website itself return at the moment you scan. Records can be cached, incomplete or out of date, and the grades are a quick indicator rather than a full audit. Check anything important at its source before you rely on it. The report is not legal, security or financial advice.

Privacy

SiteScout has no server of its own and collects nothing about you. What is sent where, and why each permission is needed, is set out in the SiteScout privacy policy.

No warranty

SiteScout is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. There is no guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or available in the Chrome Web Store at all times.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Shahid Malla is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for loss of data, revenue or business, arising from the use of SiteScout or from decisions made on the basis of its reports. Because SiteScout is free, total liability for any claim is limited to zero, except where the law does not allow such a limit.

Updates and changes to these terms

SiteScout may be updated, changed or withdrawn at any time. If these terms change, the new version is published at this address with a new effective date. Continuing to use SiteScout after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Ending use

You can stop using SiteScout at any time by uninstalling it. Because it stores nothing, uninstalling leaves no data behind.
