Pay by Invoice Gateway with Moneybird for WHMCS
Lets approved business customers choose pay by invoice in WHMCS, with each invoice created in your Moneybird administration and sent from there.
What does the pay by invoice gateway do?
Some business customers cannot pay by card at checkout; their accounts team pays invoices from the bookkeeping system at the end of the month. This package adds a manual payment gateway to WHMCS for those customers, plus an addon that keeps the list of who is approved to use it. No card details are collected. The customer sees your payment instructions on the invoice, written in HTML in whatever language you choose.
When an invoice is created with this gateway for an approved customer, the addon finds the customer in Moneybird by email or creates a new contact, creates a sales invoice there with the same lines, dates and currency and a reference to the WHMCS invoice number, and can send it to the customer through Moneybird's own email.

Who should use it?
It is for hosting companies and agencies that keep their books in Moneybird and bill some business clients on account rather than by card. It keeps those invoices in your accounting system from the start, so nobody retypes them, while WHMCS still tracks the service and its due dates.
What do you need, and what are the limits?
Requirements: WHMCS 8.13, PHP 7.4 or newer with cURL, a Moneybird administration with an API token, and my Moneybird integration addon, which holds the connection details this gateway reads.
Limits: the gateway takes no money itself and never marks an invoice paid. When the customer pays the Moneybird invoice, the payment is recorded in WHMCS by your staff, and WHMCS then runs its normal automation. Refund requests are logged and handled by you. Tax rates are not mapped line by line; prices are sent to Moneybird as tax-inclusive amounts. With the approved-only setting on, customers outside your list do not get a Moneybird invoice, so check your order form shows the gateway only where you want it.

Frequently asked questions
Does this gateway mark invoices paid automatically?
<p>No. It is a manual method: the order goes through without a payment being taken, and the WHMCS invoice stays unpaid until the payment is recorded. Once it is recorded, the addon updates its sync status and WHMCS runs your usual paid-invoice automation.</p>
Can any customer choose pay by invoice?
<p>With approved customers only switched on, which is the default, Moneybird invoices are created only for clients on your approved list, and a payment attempt from anyone else is declined. You add and remove clients on the addon's Approved Customers page, with a note for each.</p>
Do I need a separate Moneybird module?
<p>Yes. The gateway reads the Moneybird administration ID and API token from my Moneybird integration addon, so that addon must be installed and connected first. The connection test on this addon's page confirms that WHMCS can reach your Moneybird administration.</p>
