Clover Card Payment Gateway for WHMCS
Take card payments on WHMCS invoices through your Clover merchant account, with saved card tokens for renewals and refunds or voids from admin.
What does the Clover gateway add to WHMCS?
It connects WHMCS to Clover payment processing through the Clover API. A customer pays an invoice by card, Clover processes the charge, and the result comes back to WHMCS. Clover keeps the card and returns a token that is stored on the client's account. When the WHMCS cron raises a renewal invoice, that token is charged through Clover, the invoice is marked paid, and any provisioning or renewal linked to it runs as usual.
What is included?
| Area | What the gateway handles |
|---|---|
| Card payments | Invoice payments sent to Clover through its API |
| Renewals | Saved card tokens charged on recurring invoices |
| Card storage | Clover keeps the card, WHMCS keeps only a token |
| Refunds | Money returned after a payment has settled |
| Voids | A charge canceled before it settles |
| Transaction types | Card-not-present online, card-present on Clover hardware |
When should I void and when should I refund?
A void cancels a transaction before it settles, so the charge never completes. A refund sends money back after settlement. Both are available from WHMCS, which means a mistaken charge can be fixed the same day and an older payment returned later, without staff switching to the Clover dashboard to do it.
Who is it for?
Businesses that take payments in person on Clover and bill online in WHMCS: IT service shops, local web agencies, managed service providers with a storefront, and hosting companies that want every card payment under one merchant account. One processor means one fee schedule, one payout calendar and one place to reconcile card income, and staff only need to learn one dashboard when a customer asks about a charge.
If you are moving from another card gateway, you can switch gradually. WHMCS keeps a default payment method per client, so new orders can use Clover while existing clients move over when they next add a card. Pay a small test invoice first and check that it shows in both WHMCS and Clover.
What do you need, and what are the limits?
Requirements: WHMCS 8.x (I confirm the exact version with you at purchase), PHP 8.1 or newer, and a Clover merchant account with API access.
Limits: payments made on WHMCS invoices online are card-not-present. How in-person payments taken on Clover hardware relate to your WHMCS invoices depends on your own Clover setup, so ask me before you rely on that part of the workflow. Fees, payouts and disputes are handled by Clover under its own terms.
It costs $49 once for a lifetime license with twelve months of updates and support, an instant download and license key, and a seven-day refund window.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Clover gateway charge renewal invoices automatically?

Yes. The first payment stores a Clover token on the client's account, and when WHMCS generates a renewal invoice that token is charged through Clover. The invoice is marked paid and the renewal goes ahead without the customer paying by hand.

Can I void a Clover payment from WHMCS?

Yes. You can void a transaction that has not settled yet, so the charge never completes, or refund one that has already settled. Both run from WHMCS, so you do not need to log in to Clover to correct a charge.

Do I need a Clover merchant account?

Yes. The gateway works through the Clover API, so you need a Clover merchant account with API access. The API details go into the gateway settings in WHMCS once the module is activated.
