What does the email marketing module do?

It lets you send newsletters, offers, renewal reminders and win-back emails to your clients without exporting your list to an outside tool. A campaign moves from draft to scheduled, sending and completed, and you can pause, resume, unschedule or cancel it. The recipient list is built when sending starts, so anyone who signed up or unsubscribed in the meantime is counted correctly. "Send now" goes out on the next cron run, or you set a date and an optional daily sending window.

How do I choose who receives a campaign?

The segment builder combines rules on your WHMCS data: an active service, a product group or product, client currency or country, former clients whose last service ended within a set number of months, services or domains due within a set number of days, people who signed up but never ordered, and clients with no login for a set number of days. You can leave out clients who received a recent campaign and whole client groups. A live count and the first 20 recipients, each with the reason they were included, show before you send.

How does it handle consent and unsubscribes?

By default only clients with the WHMCS marketing opt-in are mailed. Closed accounts, clients who opted out of email, anyone on the unsubscribe list, recent bounces, invalid and duplicate addresses are always left out, and each address is checked again right before its email goes. Every email has an unsubscribe link that opens a page with one button, so mail security scanners that open links cannot unsubscribe people by accident. Unsubscribing also clears the WHMCS opt-in, so WHMCS' own mass mail respects it. When you send by SMTP, each email also carries one-click unsubscribe headers for Gmail and Yahoo.

Default limits are 10 emails a minute, 300 an hour and 2,000 a day, plus a cap of one marketing email per client every three days. A campaign pauses itself when more than 5% of its recent attempts fail, and sends to more than 50 people ask you to type the recipient count first.

What do you need, and what are the limits?

Requirements: WHMCS 9, PHP 8.1 or newer, the WHMCS cron every five minutes, and a writable uploads folder for campaign images. SMTP sending uses the PHPMailer library that ships with WHMCS 9.

Limits: imported contacts can only be mailed by SMTP, and the WHMCS mail route cannot add one-click unsubscribe headers. Open rates are estimates because many mail apps block or preload images. The client email preferences and unsubscribe page templates were written for a custom WHMCS 9 theme, so another theme needs template and language changes to match.
