Moneybird Billing Integration for WHMCS

Bill WHMCS orders and renewals through Moneybird, with direct payment, SEPA direct debit, pay later and one monthly invoice per client.

WHMCS 8.13+ PHP 7.4+

What does the Moneybird billing module do?

It moves invoicing out of WHMCS and into Moneybird. When a customer checks out, the module creates or updates their Moneybird contact and raises a Moneybird sales invoice for the order, using the workflow, ledger account and tax rate you mapped. WHMCS still handles orders, products and provisioning, but WHMCS invoice emails can be switched off and the WHMCS invoice pages can be hidden, so customers only ever see the Moneybird invoice.

Moneybird reports back through a webhook. When an invoice is paid, the module marks it paid locally and activates the services on that order. A daily cron job also reads open invoices from the Moneybird API, so a missed webhook does not leave an invoice stuck.

What is included?

AreaWhat the module handles
Payment optionsDirect payment, SEPA direct debit mandates and pay later on a 14 or 30 day term
Billing modeImmediate invoices, or items staged for one consolidated invoice on a set day each month
RenewalsRenewal invoices raised from cron, or staged for the monthly invoice
WebhooksInvoice, payment, failed collection, mandate and contact events, checked against a shared secret
BookkeepingLedger account and tax rate per product, workflow per payment type
Client areaInvoice list, PDF download, pay or retry buttons and a payment methods page, in English and Dutch
Admin areaDashboard, clients, billable and staged items, order tracking, pay later queue, provisioning tickets, webhook and API logs

How do pay later and consolidated billing work?

You approve each client for pay later, direct debit or consolidation from the admin area, so a new customer cannot pick an option you have not cleared. For each product you decide whether a pay later order is set up at once or waits for a person; when it waits, the module opens a support ticket with the order details. Clients on consolidated billing collect their orders and renewals as staged items until their invoice day, then receive one Moneybird invoice. Partner accounts can receive a single invoice that covers the clients they manage.

Who should use it?

It suits hosting companies and agencies that keep their books in Moneybird and want WHMCS to stop issuing a second set of invoices. It is a good fit if some of your customers pay monthly on account or by direct debit rather than by card at checkout.

What do you need, and what is outside its scope?

Requirements: WHMCS 8.13 or newer, PHP 7.4 or newer, a Moneybird administration with an API token, the webhook URL registered in Moneybird, and the module's cron file running once a day.

Limits: invoices live in Moneybird, so WHMCS income reports will not show them. The payment methods on offer are the ones your Moneybird account provides on its invoice payment page. Setup takes some care: workflows, ledger accounts and tax rates must exist in Moneybird before you map them.

It costs $249 once for a lifetime license with twelve months of updates and support, an instant download and license key, and a seven-day refund window.

Frequently asked questions

Does WHMCS still create its own invoices?

<p>No, not for the billing this module handles. Orders and renewals are invoiced in Moneybird, WHMCS invoice emails can be suppressed, and the WHMCS invoice pages in the client area can be hidden and pointed to the Moneybird invoice list. WHMCS keeps managing orders, products and provisioning.</p>

How does a service get activated when the customer pays?

<p>Moneybird sends a webhook when the invoice is paid. The module checks the shared secret, records the payment once even if the webhook repeats, and activates the services on that order if auto accept is on. The daily cron also syncs open invoices from the Moneybird API as a backstop.</p>

Can some customers get one invoice a month?

<p>Yes. Set the client to consolidated billing and pick their invoice day. Their orders and renewals are held as staged items and combined into one Moneybird invoice on that day. You approve each client for this, and from the admin area you can view or cancel staged items, or run a client's consolidation before the day comes.</p>
