Product Purchase Limit Addon for WHMCS

Stops one customer account from ordering the same trial, sample or promo product more times than you allow, with a clear message at checkout.

WHMCS 8.0+ PHP 7.4+

What does the purchase limit addon do?

WHMCS has no built-in way to say "one per customer". A free trial, a discounted first month or a launch bundle can be ordered again by the same account as soon as the last one ends. This addon lets you pick any product and set the maximum number of services one client account may have for it, usually one. At checkout it counts the services that account already holds for that product. If the count has reached your limit, the order stops with a message that names the product, and the attempt is written to the WHMCS module log.

What is included?

SettingWhat it controls
Limited productsAny product, chosen from a list grouped by product group
Maximum per accountOne by default, or any number you set per product
Statuses countedActive, pending and suspended always; canceled, fraud and terminated each optional
MessagesA default message plus an optional custom one per product
PlaceholdersProduct name, maximum allowed and the customer's current count
Cart noticeWarning data passed to the cart page for your template to show

Who should use it?

It suits hosts and SaaS sellers that run free or paid trials, sample products or introductory offers meant for each customer once. It is a lighter choice than my Free and Paid Trials module when you only need the limit and not the trial lifecycle with reminders and conversion.

How do the status rules work?

By default every service counts, including canceled, fraud and terminated ones, which is the strictest setting and the right one for most trials. If you want a customer whose order was canceled before it started to be able to try again, switch canceled off. Fraud and terminated have their own switches, so you decide which histories still count against the limit.

What do you need, and what are the limits?

Requirements: WHMCS 8.0 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer. Setup takes a few minutes: activate the addon, choose the status rules, then add products with their limits.

Limits: the count is per client account, and the check applies to customers who are signed in when they check out. Someone who registers a fresh account with new details starts at zero; if you need checks across email domains, IP addresses or cards, my trials module includes them. Removing a limit returns the product to normal ordering straight away.

It costs $29 once for a lifetime license with twelve months of updates and support, an instant download and license key, and a seven-day refund window.

Frequently asked questions

Does canceling a trial let the customer order it again?

<p>Only if you allow it. By default canceled, fraud and terminated services all count toward the limit. Switch any of those off in the settings and services in that status are ignored when the addon counts.</p>

Can a customer get around it by creating a new account?

<p>Yes, because the limit counts services per account. That covers the common case of an existing customer reordering a trial. For checks by email domain, IP address and card, use my Free and Paid Trials module, which includes them.</p>

Can I allow more than one purchase of a product?

<p>Yes. Each limited product has its own maximum, so a sample product could allow three orders per account while a trial allows one. The message can show the limit and the customer's current count through placeholders.</p>
