Web Design Services Module for WHMCS
Sell web design as a WHMCS product, collect the brief at order, share drafts, handle revisions and bill each project milestone.
What does the web design module do?
It turns a design job into something WHMCS can sell, track and bill. The customer orders a design service like any other product and fills in a requirements form with goals, pages and content details, so you start with a written brief instead of a chain of emails. From there each project has its own dashboard where the client sees the current status, writes to the designer, collects drafts and final files, and asks for changes.
Payment follows the work. You split each project into milestones, and each milestone is billed as a normal WHMCS invoice through the gateways you already offer.
What is included?
| Stage | What the module handles |
|---|---|
| Order | Requirements form filled in with the order |
| Planning | Designer assignment with a view of each designer's workload |
| Build | Live project status the client can follow |
| Feedback | Messages and structured revision requests on the project |
| Handover | File uploads for drafts and final deliverables |
| Billing | Milestone invoices raised through WHMCS |
| After launch | Finished work added to your portfolio showcase |
Who is it for?
Hosting companies that want to offer a website alongside the hosting, freelance designers who already invoice clients through WHMCS, and small studios that share projects between a few designers and need clients kept informed without status emails. Agencies that also want signed proposals, monthly retainers, care plans, timesheets and profit reporting should look at my Web Agency Operations Module, which covers the wider agency workflow.
Why bill design work by milestone?
A design job can stretch over several weeks, and its scope tends to move along the way. Billing at each approved stage means you are paid while the work happens instead of funding the whole job yourself until the site goes live, and the client can see exactly what each invoice covers. Each milestone is also a natural point for both sides to agree on the work so far before the next stage starts.
What do you need, and what are the limits?
Requirements: WHMCS 8.13 and PHP 8.1 or newer. The module runs inside your existing WHMCS, so client accounts, invoices and payment gateways keep working as they do today.
Limits: it manages design projects, not the design work itself, and it does not build or host websites. For work billed by the hour, my hourly billing module is the better fit.
It costs $299 once for a lifetime license with twelve months of updates and support, an instant download and license key, and a seven-day refund window.

Frequently asked questions
How do clients send me their design brief?

Through a requirements form they fill in when they order the design service. It collects goals and content details up front, so the project starts with a written brief that stays attached to it.

Can clients pay for a design project in stages?

Yes. You split the project into milestones, and each one is billed as a regular WHMCS invoice, so clients pay with the gateways you already have set up.

How is this different from your Web Agency Operations Module?

This module runs design projects: the brief, status, messages, files, revisions and milestone billing. The agency module adds a sales pipeline, proposals with e-signature, retainer hours, monthly care plans, a time tracker and profit reports for agencies that run their whole business in WHMCS.
