Equipment Rental Marketplace

This package builds a rental marketplace where owners list tools, machines or gear by the day and renters book dates and pay online, with a refundable deposit kept apart from the rental fee. It fits construction equipment, camera kits, party supplies, bikes and anything else people borrow rather than buy.

Why dates are the hard part

Each item has an availability calendar. When a booking is confirmed, those dates are blocked, so two renters never get the same excavator on the same Tuesday. Owners accept or decline each request on Starter. Business adds daily, weekly and monthly rates and buffer days between rentals for cleaning, servicing or transport, plus reminder emails before pickup and before the return date.

Deposits, damage and payouts

• On Business the refundable deposit is charged as its own line through Stripe, so a damage claim can be settled without unpicking the rental fee.
• Premium adds a return check where the owner records damage with photos, which forms the record if a deposit is withheld.
• Premium also requires renters to upload ID before their first booking, prices delivery and pickup by distance, and pays owners through Stripe Connect after your commission.

What sits outside the software

Insurance, rental contracts and what happens when a machine is damaged or not returned are legal and insurance questions, so take them to a broker and a lawyer and give me the wording to show at checkout. ID documents are stored in private storage and visible only to admins, but how long you keep them is your privacy decision. Card rules also limit how long a deposit can be held, which Stripe explains for your country.
