How is a marketplace different from a normal website?
The content comes from other people, so the site needs rules as well as pages. A marketplace or directory has two audiences: listers who register, submit and sometimes pay, and visitors who search, compare and get in touch. You sit between them, approving submissions, removing spam and deciding what a listing costs. I plan those rules with you before any design work, because they shape the database and every admin screen.
Which package should you start with?
| You want | Start with | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Local firms to list themselves by category and city | Business directory | Claimed listings, categories and paid featured spots |
| Employers posting vacancies in one niche | Job board | Posts that expire, applications and paid posting credits |
| People buying and selling used goods | Classifieds site | Quick ads with photos, private messages and spam control |
| Owners renting out tools or machines | Equipment rental marketplace | Date-based availability, deposits and owner payouts |
| Customers booking nearby providers | Local services booking marketplace | Provider calendars, service areas and booking slots |
What should you have ready before I start?
A short note on who lists, who searches and how the site earns: listing fees, subscriptions, commission or ads. Add your category list, a handful of sample entries, your logo and the payment account you plan to use. If you want to take a commission and pay sellers out, say so early. Split payments need a platform account such as Stripe Connect, and approving that account is Stripe's decision.
What does the fixed price leave out?
Hosting, the domain, payment processing fees, map or SMS API usage and any paid plugins, each billed to you by its provider, in your own name. I also do not fill the site with invented listings or write reviews. An empty marketplace is a launch problem I can help you plan around with real early listers, not something to hide behind fake activity. Your lawyer should supply the terms of use and privacy notice.
How ordering a package works
-
1
Choose a plan
Pick Starter, Business or Premium and pay once by card, PayPal or crypto. The price on the page is the price.
-
2
Send your content
A project opens for your order. Send your text, logo, photos and any logins I need there.
-
3
I build it
I build on a private staging link you can open on your phone, with updates as I go.
-
4
Launch and handover
After your approval the site goes live on your domain, and every login is yours.
One-time price, no monthly fee from me
You pay for the build once. Your domain and hosting are registered in your name and renewed with your hosting provider, who bills you directly. I add nothing on top, and the site keeps running whether or not you hire me again.
What I do not build
Gambling and adult websites, and sites that sell content without the rights to it. Need something not listed? Ask for a custom quote.
Ordering from the US, Canada or Australia
Most of my clients are in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe and Australia. Here is how an order works from those time zones.
- Work happens while you sleep
- I work from India. Your evening in New York, Toronto or Los Angeles, or your night in Sydney or Perth, is my working day, so each day's progress is waiting on your staging link when you start.
- One price in US dollars
- You pay the listed USD price by card, PayPal or crypto; your bank converts from CAD or AUD. My invoice from India carries no US sales tax, Canadian GST/HST or Australian GST. If your business has to self-assess tax on imported services, your accountant will tell you.
- Payments your customers already use
- Stripe, PayPal and Square work in all three countries. I connect the gateway you open in your own business name, so the money goes straight to you.
- Hosting and domains in your country
- Your site can sit in a US, Canadian or Australian data center, on a .com, .ca or .com.au domain registered in your name. Country domains have their own eligibility rules, which I check before you register.

Questions about marketplace and directory websites
How do you keep spam listings off the site?
Every plan has an approval queue, so nothing goes live until you accept it. New accounts verify their email, forms are protected by Turnstile or reCAPTCHA, and visitors can report a listing. Business and Premium plans add posting limits for new accounts and duplicate detection on the busier listing types.
Can I take a commission on each sale or booking?
Yes, on the Business or Premium plan of the marketplace packages. Payments run through Stripe Connect or PayPal, your percentage is set in the admin, and the seller receives the rest in their own connected account. Payout timing, seller verification and account approval are handled by the payment provider under its rules.
Can listers edit their own entries after they are approved?
Yes. Listers get a dashboard where they update details, photos and prices, renew an expired entry or buy an upgrade. You choose whether edits go live at once or return to the approval queue, which is useful for directories where a changed phone number or website link needs checking.
