WHMCS Security Module Setup and Hardening

This package installs and configures the Security Hardening and Recovery Module for WHMCS, a module I built and sell myself, and then hardens the admin side of your install: two-factor sign-in for every admin, a renamed admin path and IP rules around it. It suits hosting companies that bought the module, or plan to, and want it set up properly instead of left on default settings.

License and requirements

The module license is bought separately on the security module page; this package pays for my setup time, not the license. The module is tested on WHMCS 8.13 and needs PHP 8.1 or newer, which I confirm before installing.

The setup, step by step

• Upload the module, run its database script, enter the API keys and choose a protection profile that fits your traffic.
• Enforce two-factor sign-in for each admin, giving staff a set time to enroll so nobody is locked out on day one.
• On Business and Premium, rename the admin folder and set it in configuration.php, then limit the admin path to IP addresses you confirm.
• Turn on sandboxing for third-party addons and themes, set the scan schedule for quiet hours, and send alerts to an inbox someone reads.

Business also tests a one-click rollback on a staging copy, so you know recovery works before you need it. Premium watches the exploit blocking for two weeks, adjusts rules that catch legitimate requests, and records a walkthrough for your team.

What the module does not replace

It lowers risk; it does not make WHMCS immune to attack. Server firewall rules, prompt WHMCS updates and a backup copy stored away from the same server are still needed, and the off-site backup extra covers the last one. This is configuration work on an install you own, done with your written go-ahead, and client records stay in your database.
