What I built

Disclosure: I worked on Nuco.cloud as a backend developer on its team. It was a role I held from 2023, not a one-off client project, and I no longer hold it.

Nuco.cloud lets customers rent compute from a distributed network instead of from one central cloud provider. My part was the backend: the API surface, the database design, the layer that routes workloads to the network, a billing engine for compute whose cost varies, and the customer dashboard that presents the network as one service. The codebase is Node.js and TypeScript on PostgreSQL, run in Docker.

The challenge

Bill fairly for compute whose cost changes with the network that supplies it.

How I solved it

A workload routing layer between customer requests and the distributed network.
A billing engine for variable-cost compute.
A customer dashboard that hides the complexity of the underlying network.

The outcome

The platform is live at nuco.cloud. I joined the team in 2023; the role has since ended.
