Automatic Credit Top-Up for WHMCS
Recharge a client's WHMCS credit balance from their saved Stripe card when it drops below the level they set, and warn them when it runs low.
What does the auto top-up addon do?
It keeps prepaid accounts from running dry. In the client area, each customer sets two numbers: the balance that should trigger a top-up and the amount to add. When their WHMCS credit balance falls below that minimum, the module creates a top-up invoice, charges it to the Stripe card stored on their account through WHMCS, and adds the amount to their credit. The customer gets an email with the amount, their new balance and a link to the invoice.
Balances are checked after invoice payments, credit being applied, renewals and new invoices, and again on every WHMCS cron run to catch anything missed. A client cannot be topped up twice within two hours, or while a previous top-up is still pending.
What is included?
| Part | What it does |
|---|---|
| Client settings | Minimum balance, top-up amount and an on or off switch, with recent top-up history |
| Card check | Auto top-up can only be switched on when a Stripe payment method is saved |
| Low balance alerts | Email-only option with its own threshold, sent at most once a day |
| Emails | Templates for top-up done, top-up failed and low balance, created on activation |
| Admin dashboard | Totals, a list of client subscriptions you can enable or disable, and a log of every attempt |
| Defaults | Minimum top-up amount, default threshold and default top-up amount |
What happens when a charge fails?
The attempt is logged with the reason, auto top-up is switched off for that client so the card is not retried in a loop, and the client receives an email explaining what went wrong. Once they update their card, they can switch it back on from the client area, or you can enable it for them from the admin list.
Who should use it?
It suits cloud, VPS and usage-billed services where customers keep a credit balance that pays their invoices, and anyone who has lost a customer because their credit ran out over a weekend.
What do you need, and what is outside its scope?
Requirements: WHMCS 8 (exact version confirmed at purchase), PHP 7.4 or newer, the WHMCS Stripe gateway with customers' cards stored, and the WHMCS cron running.
Limits: charges go through Stripe only. Amounts in the client area and emails are shown with a dollar sign, so it fits stores that bill in US dollars; ask me before you buy if you bill in another currency. The module does not decide how credit is spent; that is still WHMCS applying credit to invoices.
It costs $39 once for a lifetime license with twelve months of updates and support, an instant download and license key, and a seven-day refund window.

Frequently asked questions
Which payment methods can it charge?

Only a Stripe card saved on the client's account through the WHMCS Stripe gateway. The client area will not let a customer switch auto top-up on until such a card exists. The charge itself is taken by WHMCS on a normal invoice, so it appears in your usual transaction records.

Can a customer get a warning instead of being charged?

Yes. The low balance notification is a separate option with its own threshold. It sends an email with a link to add funds and never charges the card. It is sent at most once every 24 hours while the balance stays below the threshold.

Can it charge a customer twice by mistake?

The module skips a client who already had a top-up in the last two hours or has one pending. If a charge fails, auto top-up is switched off for that client until it is turned back on, so a declined card is not retried over and over.
