Manual Service Renewal Addon for WHMCS

Adds a Renew button to every active service so customers can pay for their next period early, and keeps their original login after renewal.

WHMCS 8.x (confirmed at purchase) PHP 7.4+

What does the manual renewal addon do?

WHMCS lets customers renew a domain early, but hosting and other services wait for the renewal invoice that cron creates shortly before the due date. Customers who want to pay ahead have to open a ticket. This addon adds a Renew Service button to the sidebar of every active service in the client area. The button shows the price for that service's billing cycle in the customer's own currency. One click opens a short confirmation window, and confirming creates an unpaid invoice for that amount and takes the customer straight to it.

When the invoice is paid, the addon moves the service's next due date forward by one billing cycle and writes an entry to its activity log. It also sends a Service Renewal Confirmation email if you create an email template with that name.

What is included?

PartWhat it handles
Renew buttonClient area sidebar on active services, showing the cycle price
Price lookupProduct price for the billing cycle and currency, with the first paid invoice as a fallback
Duplicate checkAn existing unpaid renewal invoice is offered to pay or cancel instead of a second one
After paymentNext due date extended by the monthly, quarterly, semiannual, annual, biennial or triennial cycle
Login preservationOriginal username and password stored and written back after renewal, edits and upgrades
Admin areaDashboard, list of managed services, activity log and settings

Why keep the original login?

Some provisioning modules and upgrade flows replace a service's username or password. For services where the customer types those details into an app, such as VPN or panel accounts, a changed login means the app stops working and a ticket follows. With preservation switched on, the addon records the first login it sees for each service and writes it back after a renewal payment, an admin edit or a product upgrade.

Who should use it?

It suits hosts and service providers whose customers like to pay for the next period before the invoice arrives, for example before a holiday or at the end of a budget month. It also suits businesses that sell short billing cycles and want customers to top up their time themselves instead of asking support to raise an invoice by hand.

What do you need, and what are the limits?

Requirements: WHMCS 8.x, PHP 7.4 or newer, and prices set for each billing cycle you sell, because the button only offers renewal when it can find a price. The addon reads and writes WHMCS records only, so it sits next to any provisioning module.

Limits: renewal moves the due date in WHMCS. It does not send a renew command to a remote server or panel, so a panel that keeps its own expiry date needs its own module to extend it. Renewal is offered on active services only. While preservation is on, a login you change by hand in the admin area is set back to the stored one, so switch the setting off before changing a login on purpose.

It costs $29 once for a lifetime license with twelve months of updates and support, an instant download and license key, and a seven-day refund window.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Renew button change anything on my server or panel?

<p>No. It creates an invoice, and after payment it moves the next due date in WHMCS and restores the stored login. It does not call the provisioning module, so if a panel keeps its own expiry date, that panel's module has to extend it.</p>

What if the customer already has an unpaid invoice for the service?

<p>The renewal window shows that invoice's number, amount and date and offers two choices: pay it now, or cancel it and create a fresh renewal invoice. The customer can only cancel unpaid invoices on their own services, and every cancellation is written to the activity log.</p>

Where does the renewal price come from?

<p>From the product's price for the service's billing cycle in the customer's currency. If that price is not set, the addon uses the amount from the first paid invoice for the service. If neither exists, the button tells the customer renewal is not available instead of creating an invoice for zero.</p>
