Self-Service cPanel Transfer Wizard for WHMCS

New customers move their cPanel accounts to your servers from the WHMCS client area, with progress shown at every stage.

WHMCS 8.13 tested PHP 8.1+

How does a customer migrate their own cPanel account?

They open the migration wizard in the WHMCS client area, pick the source server and start the transfer; the module then moves the account from that cPanel server to yours through the WHM API. It detects the backup format and works out the files, mail and databases to bring across. A progress bar shows each stage as it runs: account, files, mail, databases and the DNS step.

Emails go out when the move starts, partway through and when it finishes, so the customer is not left guessing.

How does it stay safe without root access?

It authenticates with cPanel API tokens instead of root passwords. You add a token once for each source server, and customers never see it. Larger moves can wait for you: accounts under a size you choose are approved automatically, and anything bigger needs admin approval first. You can also restrict migrations to off-peak hours or allow them at any time.

  • Wizard in the WHMCS client area with a live progress bar
  • WHM-to-WHM transfers using API tokens
  • Choice of any source cPanel host that has a token set up
  • Checks after the move: HTTP probe, mail port test, DNS guidance
  • History per client with a downloadable transcript
  • Approval threshold by account size and a migration time window

What happens if a transfer fails?

The job pauses, an alert reaches your admins, and the customer sees that support has been contacted rather than a half-moved site. From the admin queue you can resume or cancel it. The queue also holds the server credentials manager and retry controls.

What do you need, and what does it leave to you?

Requirements: WHMCS 8.13 (tested), PHP 8.1 or newer, and WHM API access on both the source and destination servers. Setup is uploading the module, adding API tokens for source servers and linking it to a migration product.

Limits: it moves accounts between cPanel servers only. It guides the customer through DNS changes but does not change nameservers or records at their registrar; they still make that switch.

Frequently asked questions

Does the wizard need root access to the old server?

<p>No. Access comes from API tokens issued in cPanel and WHM. A token is entered once per source server in the admin area, and the customer never sees it. The transfer runs WHM to WHM through the API, so no root password is shared with the customer or stored in the wizard.</p>

Can I control who is allowed to migrate?

<p>Yes. The wizard is tied to a product or package of your choice, so only customers on that product see it. You can also set a size limit: smaller accounts are approved automatically, and accounts over that size wait for an admin to approve them before the move starts.</p>

Why would I buy the open source license?

<p>The regular license is $99 and encrypted. The open source license is $299 and includes the full PHP source, which is useful when you want to connect migrations to your own ticketing or audit system. Both come with a year of support; renewal is $29 a year and optional.</p>
