Hetzner Cloud Provisioning and Auto-Sync for WHMCS
Resell Hetzner Cloud servers from WHMCS with server types, locations and prices kept in sync with Hetzner every hour.
How does the Hetzner auto-sync keep WHMCS current?
An hourly cron job reads Hetzner's catalog through the Hetzner Cloud API and updates your WHMCS products to match: server types, locations, images and pricing. Hetzner Cloud is a German cloud provider with data centers in Falkenstein, Nuremberg, Helsinki, Ashburn, Hillsboro and Singapore. When it adds a server type or a location, it shows up in WHMCS within the hour, and you can hold a new region back with the region whitelist until you have tested it.
You set a markup once, as a percentage or a fixed amount, and wholesale price changes carry through to your retail prices with that markup applied. Any product can still have a manual price override, and you can charge different prices per region if you want.
What can your customers manage themselves?
| Area | Client area actions |
|---|---|
| Power | Start, stop, restart, shut down, reset |
| Access | One-click VNC or web console, rescue mode, ISO mounting |
| Snapshots and backups | Create, restore, delete and schedule snapshots; switch Hetzner's 7-day rolling backups on or off |
| Networking | Private networks, subnets, routes, firewall rules, rDNS for IPv4 and IPv6, floating IPs |
| Storage | Attach, detach, resize and format volumes |
| Usage | Bandwidth, CPU and disk graphs |
Any of these can be turned off per product, so firewall or network tools can be kept for higher plans.
How are upgrades and backups billed?
When a customer moves to a bigger or smaller server type, the auto price switch adds prorated invoice items right away, in line with Hetzner's hourly billing, so you are not editing invoices by hand. Hetzner adds 20 percent to a server's price when backups are on; you can pass that cost to the customer through the module or absorb it yourself. Regions with no stock can be disabled automatically.
What do you need before going live?
Requirements: WHMCS 8.13 (tested), PHP 8.1 or newer, a Hetzner Cloud project with a read and write API token, outbound HTTPS to api.hetzner.cloud, and a cron for the hourly sync (the WHMCS cron can do it). In the admin panel you set the token, sync schedule, markup, and region and image whitelists.
Limits: the module works with Hetzner Cloud through its Cloud API; Hetzner's dedicated servers are outside its scope. You pay Hetzner for every resource your customers use.

Frequently asked questions
What happens when Hetzner opens a new location?
<p>Within an hour of the next sync, it appears in WHMCS as a region customers can choose on the order form, and orders can be placed into it straight away. If you would rather test a new location first, leave it off the region whitelist until you are ready to sell it.</p>
Can I gate firewalls and private networks behind higher plans?
<p>Yes. The firewall rule editor, network creation, subnets and routes are all available in the client area, and each feature can be turned off per product. That lets you sell a basic plan with power and console only, and a higher plan that adds networking and firewall control.</p>
Regular or open source license?
<p>The regular license is $129 for the encrypted, fully featured module. The open source license is $379 and gives you the unencrypted PHP, which helps if you want to adjust how markup is calculated, write in-house billing hooks or link the module to another system you run. Support renewal is $59 a year and optional.</p>
